Captain Malcolm Reynolds is the pragmatic, no-nonsense captain of the commercial towing vessel Nostromo in the 1979 sci-fi horror film Alien. Played by Harry Dean Stanton, he embodies the corporate loyalty of Weyland-Yutani and is killed early in the film by the Xenomorph. His character grounds the crew's tension between duty and survival.
